Hedge Bamboos
Bamboos in this section are our choice options for creating the most appealing and functional hedgerows. Heights range from 20 to 40 feet depending on the conditions of the planting location. We use the genera Phyllostachys and Semiarundinaria for their clumping and slight running habits. From deep green to glowing golden canes, we can help clients find the best evergreen back drop.
Species: Phyllostachys aurea ‘Golden Bamboo’
Golden bamboo is great for privacy screens where space and height are concerns. Its growth habit is mostly vertical, and it's lower height is nice when you don't want a towering wall of greenery for a hedge. P. aurea is one of the most commonly cultivated in the USA and can be commonly spotted next to driveways and walkways. Leaves will turn yellow with age and sun exposure.

Species: Phyllostachys bissetii
This bushy growing bamboo has delightful dark green leaves and canes that stay vibrant all year long. P. bissetii grows vigorously fast and provides a dense privacy row. If space is not too limited, this very resistant to cold species is a fantastic option.

Species: Semiarundinaria fastuosa ‘Statetly Bamboo’
Stately is a grand specimen for a tall hedgerow where lateral space is limited. It's canes are strong and have an excellent upright growing habit. Mature canes are a maroon with purple and brown hues. This bamboo can grow well in soils with a high pH.
